Deleting old home folders

There was a thread about this stating you cannot delete home folders way back from 2016. I thought NetGear would have a real solution by now.

We use egnyte with our NAS for local speedy access. We discovered we have both home folder shares (which I stopped) and Egnyte private folders. I cut off the users from being able to see but, the admins are seeing both the home folders and private folders (Egnyte) and now my data is mixed up.

We have cloud (Egnyte) users and local NAS users - now we have to pay attention to which home/private folder they use...We even had to put in an auto sync to make sure the data was in both places.

Yes, this is a problem because I have data in two locations. We need the home folders removed from the NAS. We only wish to use the egnyte private folders. No we cannot restart and rebuild the NAS. I would not even be writing this to the community if it was not an issue.

Why is there no way to delete a home folder?

Afgter speaking with Netgear we will just ignore and leave the home folders alone.

    Thanks for your reply.

Did you try turning off all the file transfer protocols on the home folder?  That will prevent any new ones from being created.  I think you'd need to use ssh to delete the ones that are already there.

I stopped sharing, tried to turn off SMB but, it will not allow.
