Desperately need data on a unit with dead NIC
I have ready many posts that the ReadyNAS Duo v2 has NIC issues. My NIC is dead and i have tried all the troubleshooting from other posts. I desperately need access to my Data though. My warranty is ...
Unless you configured the backup button to backup the entire NAS, you cannot back it up with a dead NIC.
Let's try one more time. Your immediate option is to
(a) connect disk 1 of the duo to your PC. You can to this via SATA, or (perhaps more practical) by purchasing a USB adapter with power supply.
Windows will not recognize the drive (and of course if you format it under windows you are doomed). So step (b) is
(b) Install linux Reader on the PC. It should recognize your data
(c) is to first copy the tax data you need, and second to back everything else up.
If your data is all intact, this will work. And it is certainly your fastest option to get your data back.
