Direct Connect to PC

I am having a difficult time doing a direct connect to my PC. I have the Readynas NV and running Win 7.0 Pro 64. I have been running thru the network, but want to make this a close system and only connect to the NAS and avoid problems. I am using the NAS, due to the raid capability and loss of photographic data.

system tells me there is a subnet issue and I am not versed enough to correct.

Do you have 2 network adapters in the computer, or are you never connecting to the internet at all from that machine?

On the NAS, you set the IP address and subnet mask on the network->interfaces page.

On the computer, it depends on the operating system (mac, windows 7, etc). With Windows 7, you can go into the network and sharing center in the control panel. Select "change adapter settings", and choose your adapter and then select the IPv4 protocol. click on properties, and you will get a screen that lets you set a static IP address and subnet.
  • Yes, there are two there. i connect by the wireless to the net. The IPv4 is the one I did not know. i think it will work now. Will post up later, Thank you guys so much. Then all I have to do is change the raid, but that is another issue. :)
