Direct link to Boxee, using both network interfaces
hi there!
I did try searching the forums but couldn't find what I was after.
My setup is as follows:
- ADSL Modem/Router with 4 GbE interfaces
- ReadyNAS 4 Ultra
- Apple TV
- PVR
- DLink Boxee
- Desktop PC
Currently the ReadyNAS, AppleTV, PVR and Desktop PC are using the 4 GbE ports on the router.
I would really like to connect the Boxee direct into the NAS, and since there are dual interfaces this is OK.
That would free up a port for the AppleTV or the PS3 to connect into.
I don't know what settings I need to be able to route the internet through to the Boxee.
Without the Internet the Boxee loses a lot of its value.
Is this even possible?
There is the 'route' tab in the admin interface, but not sure what settings I would need.
"With multiple network interfaces, network traffic can be optimized by manually setting up a routing table. If you are unfamiliar with route tables, it is advised that you do not change the defaults."

- mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredGet a cheap gigabit switch and connect this to your router
- cstratAspirantTrying to avoid adding new devices!
So are you saying that the ReadyNAS isn't going to be able to route between the interfaces to the internet?
I had thought if I set the right default gateway on the boxee interface, it might work.
Just not certain though... - mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredNo. Adding a switch is the way to go.
- cstratAspirantOk no worries, thanks!
I think I will just stick with using Wifi for the AppleTV then.
Its really only used for music streaming anyway.
