Disk Replacement process
Hi All, I am in the process of replacing the drives on a RN3220. I have 6 6TB drives that will replace 12 2TB drives. I would like to know how I can end up with only the new drives. Right now w...

XRAID does not work like that -- you cannot reduce the number of drives, even if they are larger. While there may be ways to do that "under the hood" via BTRFS and MDADM commands if you have the Linux skills, the ReadyNAS still might not recognize that you did so.
Your only option is to back up the data (which you should be doing, anyway), factory default with the new drives installed, and restore your data. If you have a complex system configuration you don't want to have to re-do, save the configuration as well. But if you have any apps installed, make sure you re-install them before restoring your configuration.
So long as you replace all the drives with the power off, your old volume will still be intact if there is some reason you need to go back to it. Just mark which drive goes in which slot.
