Display shows Retry Startup #27234130
I have a Netgear 314 drive that has a flashing blue light on the Power button. The display shows Retry Startop and I have tried booting up from the boot menu as Normal and I have now tried to reb...

I understand that the problem has now been fixed by support.
Yes, you should update the firmware. On the latest firmware (6.5.1), the NAS will automatically try to repair the problem if it runs into the issue your system ran into.
Note that the issue you ran into is one problem that has the symptom of failing to complete booting and giving the "Retry Startup" error.
There are some general tips on updating the firmware: http://kb.netgear.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/30033/~/readynas-os-6%3A-firmware-upgrade-guide-and-tips

Yes, I have reloaded the OS from the firmware using the boot menu. That did not help.
Since this drive is used by a Virtual Server I really don't know what all is on it but I need to save it if at all possible.
Inherited meaning someone else who is no longer with us set up the drive.
Does the drive require network access? It looks like the IP address has got screwed up as it is showing 169.254.202.205 now when I accesss with Raidar.

The NAS can only be accessed over the network.
I am guessing you did an "OS Reinstall". that would reset the admin password to password and should also have reset the IP address configuration to use dhcp. Normally if there is no DHCP server found it fails over to 192.168.168.168, but I have seen some other posts where 169.254.x.x showed up instead.
Did you try directly connecting the NAS ethernet to a PC? A crossover cable isn't needed, the NAS will autosense. Then configure the PC with a temporary IP address in the same range that RAIDar reports, and try https://nasipaddress/admin That should get you into the NAS admin GUI.
You can of course use Netgear support, though some business folks have had trouble convincing Netgear that they were simply taking over from a previous administrator (and were not purchasers of used equipment).

Retry startup typically suggests that there was a problem starting the management service.
If you are from the same company as the previous administrator especially if the company email domain is the same there shouldn't be an issue getting the registration shifted across. If there is let me know and I can look into that.

I currently have it registered. I am not sure the previous administrator ever did register it.
I am going to try and go direct wire as suggested and see what happens.

Is there a way you can confirm RN31400 drive is registered properly? I receive confirmation so it should be ok. The email domain is the same. So more I have not had much luck connecting directly but I may not be doing everything correctly.

The display still is showing Retry Startup. When I connect directly to the drive from the PC I do get a connection but it shows (still shows) off line busy. So even though I have a direct connection I can not get passed the busy indication from ReadyNAS. I have about exhausted the things I know to do open to suggestion but I need some help. Once again I did reload the OS from the firmware and logon and password are at the default settings.
The drive shows Retry Startup. ReadyNAS shows drive is busy.
RAIDar connect now with IP 169.254.202.73
Is there any other opations or do I need to call Support?
