It could be related to buffer overrun in the router - the WD Live is 100 mbit, and the router doesn't appear to support 802.3x pause frames. The ultra is a lot faster than the duo, and the router might not have enough buffering. Try setting the ultra to 100 mbit (as a test) and see if the issue resolves. If it does, you might need to add a newer switch behind the router.
