Does RN424 comes with plex full version?

Hi,

I have installed plex on my RN424...it is sreaming from my laptop. But when I access it from my mobile it is asking to buy plex pass.

What netgear support says is 'plex is fully free with readyNAS, you can stream on multiple devices'

Any advice!

Thank you

Using the Plex Media Server and the Plex Web App would be free of charge together with all non-mobile apps.

If you are using the Plex Mobile App it has limitations and that is possibly why it's asking you to buy Plex Pass. Usually there's a limit on how long you can watch a media from the Plex Media Server.

You may want to use the Web App on your mobile phone to fully utilize the free access.

    Hope this helps!

There is only one version of plex, but it does use a freemium business model - basic features are free, but some features are paid.  Those paid features are linked to your account (at plex.tv), not the server.  You can run multiple plex servers if you want, and if you have plex-pass the preimium features apply to all of them.

The premium features that plex-pass gives you are here:  https://www.plex.tv/plex-pass/  In addition, new features are often offered first to plex-pass subscribers.

      I forgot that aspect.

      There are actually three tiers...

      • Pay nothing, and basically don't use the mobile app
      • purchase the mobile client app ($4.99 one time charge), which gives you unlimited streaming using the app or
      • purchase plex-pass, which gives you the premium features I linked in above.

Plex-pass is pretty expensive, so I suggest purchasing the mobile app initially (if you care about mobile use).
