Downloading to your pc from a share
Dear members,
I have made a share for my family to download from. They can access over HTTPS the share and log in on the share. They can create on the share and change but not download anything. What do I do wrong?

- master64nlAspirantDear members, I have a ReadyNas Ultra6. I have made a share: family with read and write for CIFS and HTTPS and hosts with permission whit there IP-adresses. They can access and create on the share and change but they can`t download anything. Please help?
- StephenBGuru - Experienced UserHow did you set the permissions in "Advanced CIFS Permission"?
Also, is everyone in your family using the same username/password? - master64nlAspirantThanx for replying.
StephenB wrote: How did you set the permissions in "Advanced CIFS Permission"? Set nothing there.
Also, is everyone in your family using the same username/password? No, all different.
Did not understand how to get it right? - StephenBGuru - Experienced UserIdeally all your family members would be in the same user group. Did you set it up that way?
Through frontview, select Shares, then Share Listing on the left menu. Then click on the CIFS icon for the share. If you scroll down, you will see a "advanced cifs permission" section.
-check the box next to "Automatically set permissions on new files and folders."
-Set the group rights to "read/write"
-If the users are in different groups, set "everyone" to read/write
then click the apply button at the bottom. This should solve your problem for new files.
Next, you need to solve it for the existing files. Select the "advanced options" tab at the top right. You will see a "advanced share permission" section.
-Set "Share folder owner" to nobody
-Set the "Share folder group" to the group the users are in. (If you didn't set this up, set it to nogroup).
-Set "Share folder owner rights" to read/write
-Set "Share folder group rights" to read/write
If users are in different groups, set "Share folder everyone rights" to read/write
Click apply at the bottom. This starts a background task to reset the file access permissions for all the files in the group. Frontview will display a popup when it is done. - master64nlAspirant

Thanks, This I will try this weekend :D - master64nlAspirantStephen B, did everything you said and it works now. Thanks for explaining it to me. Is it possible to download a whole map or select more files because you can only download one file at the time?
- StephenBGuru - Experienced UserThe easiest way to download a full directory (or to queue multiple file transfers) over the internet is to use an FTP client (I use FileZilla). You would need to enable FTP on the NAS; also you need to set it up for each shared folder.
- master64nlAspirantThanx, Stephan. It keeps me off the street ;)
I have set it up and try. I"ll be back :) - master64nlAspirantStephan I have a few questions about the setup for FTP(S). How do I get FTP(S)? Connecting via FTP(S) is via a FTP program? How to set up these ports in the NAS? Can you please give an description Stephan?
