Drive C is dead

I got the message "C Drive is Dead" so i tried to connect without any luck. Then i tried to pwr down with 2 fast push on pwr, nothing happend.. Then tried to hold down pwr, nothing happend again. So ended up having to pull the pwr.

When i connected pwr again and pushed pwr buttom, it says first "Facrory reset". This unit has been on pwr all time, UPS with hours of runtime. Problem started when i could not connect and got the "C Drive Dead" msg.

So after factory reset, it starts up and RAIDRAR finds it.. But only option is SETUP. After running setup in same mode as before, it starts up and says "root  corrupt".

I found that this is normal when the drives contains data.

So, how can i get it up running again? Can it be done with out data loss? And last question, why does it suddenly wile running go to C Drive is Dead, then on reboot(pwd disconnect/connect) says that its factory reset when nobody ever came close to it?

Hope somone can help here, its 3rd time  im loosing data due Netgear wierd problems. All 4 disk is new 3TB, only runned them for 6 month. The last 4 disks it killed also..

Thanks :)

Tom

    Hi Grimleiv,

Which ReadyNAS unit are you using? Firmware? Can you put the disks in your computer via SATA and run the Hard drive manufacturer's diagnostic tool to test each one of them.

    Looking forward to your response.

    Kind regards,

Both my Netgear went down at same time. ReadyNAS NV + V2 and ReadyNAS DUO, Not shure about firmware, but it's been updated to latest firmware(autoupdate). I know that there is a later firmware that must be updated manually, but since i can't access any of my ReadyNAS via http, i can update it. There is 4 4TB disk running RAID 5

But this is what happend.. After i no longer could access my NV +V2:

      1. It said Drive C is dead in disply(power down via on/off switch didn't wor. Tried normal with 2 fast push and to hold in buttom for looong time, no response. So i pulled plug and restarted).

      2. When i restartet it said Factory reset in disply!! No factory reset has been done.. Anyway it started and it was reset. Name i made gone etc.

      3. I run setup and made a new raid 5, same as before. But then it came up with root corrupt (due date on disks). And pwr buttom did not work anymore..

      4. So i pullet pwr plug again, waited a few and restarted again..

      5. Now it starts up like normal, name back and disk report in ok. Startet with FC in  display(File Check). After a wile it went from FC to Booting.. and nothing is happening(Still says "File system check" in Raidar 4.3.8 and Raidar 6.1 So i'm waiting.

Then the old ReadyNAS DUO, looks ok but cant access http, same msg as NV + V2, "ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED"

Hope there is a solution to this :) The 2 ReadyNAS is set up with all access enabled. Use them as MEDIA streamer to TV and computers at home.
