Drive Tray Screws , Case # 20304575

Does anyone have a known source for the correct drive tray screws for the NV+ ???

Just acquired a used unit without drives or screws. No dice going to the hardware store. Based on others attempts here ( http://www.readynas.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=33&t=67481 ) it doesn't look like anybody else has been very successful either.

Based on other posts, went to NETGEAR Support. Even offered to pick them up since I'm all of about 3 miles from the corporate office in N. San Jose. Nice try. Can't provide them, your not the original owner and your out of warranty - go away and have a Great Day.

Bottom line, where can Anybody acquire the correct mounting screws ? It really, really, really shouldn't be this difficult.

Thanks.

  • Have sent email to Tech Support so we'll see what they say. Will post update when I hear back from them.

  • So Tech Support said they couldn't supply any:
"I am afraid we do not provide those but I can give you the specs:
    6-32 4mm flathead/countersunk head.
I made a quick search for you on ebay and that's what I found:
    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/4-Hard-Drive-Caddy-Screws-6-32-UNC-1-4-Countersunk-IDE-SATA-HDD-Hot-Plug-Trays-/251023385166?pt=UK_Computing_Case_Accessories_Tool_Kits&hash=item3a7228e24e "

which I've ordered. We'll see what they're like when they turn up.

He also sent a pdf with the same screw detail drawing that was in the other link StephenB mentioned.
  • You should check with Support again, the agent you spoke to obviously wasn't well informed. They do have the screws available.
  • Too late. Already ordered the ebay ones. Disappointing really that something so trivial gives so many people so many issues. I even said I wasn't looking for them for free and that it was daft that they don't supply spare parts for what is a user serviceable item. I work for a major vehicle manufacturer and it would just be incomprehensible if we didn't supply spare parts for our vehicles (or if we did, but made it almost impossible for secondhand users to get hold of them)!

To be honest, I've got better things to be doing with my time than chasing them repeatedly over this, so they've just disappionted me and let themselves down. What was apparantly good service with the follow-up mails and calls to my enquiry, ended with a disappointed customer - all for the sake of some screws which would cost them about 5p (cents) each (if that). It probably costs them more in administering the subsequent phone call to conduct the satisfaction survey than it would to just send the screws!

I shall make my view clear in their satisfaction survey.
  • I found screws that fit my Netgear Ultra 6 on Amazon. They have screws for 3.5" and 2.5" drive trays. Just search Amazon for supermicro screws. They were about $5.
The screws arrived in a couple of days and work fine.
