Well, you can move data (instead of copying it) if the two shares are in the same volume. You just need to use admin credentials, and open the volume in windows explorer (or the apple equivalent). Then you can move data.

However, in your case I think you needed a copy to fix the problems - moving would have kept the existing owners/permissions, and likely would not have resolved your issue.
