Duo v2: Cannot login to c share using windows explorer

Hi,

I have a new duov2 RAIDiator 5.3.3 ( sold the duo v1 ) Now i can't acces the c share from windows explorer. It asks for a user name and password. When i use the admin password i get rejected.
Also i can't find any security settings in the dash board.

Anybody got a clue?

  • I see where the issue is. The 'admin' user isn't part of the Samba user database. I will file a bug against 5.3.4 to have this added.

On the v1 and other platforms, when the admin user changes his password system-wide, he was added to the Samba file also. The v2 does not appear to do this at this time.
  • I hope they can do something about it, cause i'm very limited what i want to do with the DuoV2. I was very positive with the V1 but it was a little to slow. But afterwards i should've waited a while.
  • Hi,

We are having the same problem accessing the share either on Windows Explorer and ReadyNAS Remote. Please take a look at the setup below:

    Scenario 1:

    Share: Backup
    Permissions: Everyone (Read/Write)

Using different computers, we can access all the shares with no problems even on ReadyNAS Remote on iPAD and Android devices.

    Scenario 2:

    Firmware: 5.3.7
    Security: Test and password
    Share: Backup
Permissions: Test (Read/Write) and disabled the Everyone access

Scenario 1: Using different computers, we can connect and access the shares using Windows Explorer only when log on using the ReadyNAS admin and password. However, when tried logging in using the Test user it will not let me log in. The same problem encountered on ReadyNAS Remote. We can see the shares on the ReadyNAS Remote but it is just not logging in for some reason.

    Troubleshooting steps done:

    1. Performed firmware upgrade.
    2. Reboot the ReadyNAS.
    3. Enable the SMB and FTP.

    Any help is greatly appreciated.
  • I would try the Automatic permissions option.
Ensure that your readynas username and password matches your Windows username/password.
Each user/computer should have a unique username - sounds like you might be giving everyone the same credentials to use?
    Try the reset permissions too.
Reboot using the "Check Volume" option.
Setup a test share and try from another PC with a new user account,
