Email Alerts on ReadyNas 314
Does anyone have email alerts working on their ReadyNAS (OS 6.10.8 currently)?
It used to work fine to my Yahoo email address but probably stopped some time ago,
I've also now tried it to Gmail and Outlook but nothing seems to work.
Any ideas?

In case you have enabled two-factor authentication (it does not matter if using eg. Gmail or Yahoo), you must generate an App Password for your login. The classic username and password is no longer operational then.

The only challenge there is? Find the right port for your Email-service.
- 25/TCP was in place for the plain text SMTP
- 465/TCP was originally registered for SMTPS (SMTP over SSL). This port was reassigned for a different use and deprecated
- 587/TCP is the old (and new) port for SMTP submission. In it's core, its plain text, but it allows calling STARTTLS ... so use that port for virtually all SMTP services, and tick the use TLS option.

220 2.0.0 Ready to start TLS...the tiny sendmail on the ReadyNAS can deal with it. you don't have to learn SMTP 8-)
I generated an app password and that worked, certainly as far as the Test message is concerned. I do not have 2-step verification on my Yahoo email though. Many thanks for your prompt response and solution to my predicament, much appreciated.
