Error backup job USB---ABC: destination cannot be accessed
A couple times I week I plug in an extrenal USB drive to the NAS and from the NAS gui I run some backups, manual start, not on a schedule. About every 3 or 4th time I do this procedure I get a error ...

Hello FG,
If you select to auto eject the USB when the backup job is done or eject the the USB from the gui this will unmount the USB hard drive from the NAS and the destination for the backup job will be disabled. when you connect the USB hard drive to the NAS make sure it is properly mounted and try to test the connection of the destination before manually running the backup job.

I am aware the "ejecting" the USB will disable the destination, but that is the proper procedure to disconnect the USB, correct?
And that doesn't explain why I get the message "destination cannot be accessed" about every 3rd or 4th time I plug the USB into the NAS.
