Though you can add a user with a specified UID using the administration page, there's a limitation set on this (I tried setting but it won't let me past 32766, I get the same error). If you are comfortable using SSH then you might be able to do that from that end or might be able to set a higher bar on the UID range.

I can surely use 'useradd' directly as root from ssh, so that solution works for me. However, I do find the 32766 limit somwhat arbitrary.
