I ran into this probolem, and after reading this post went back and mapped a network drive instead of copying to the network share. It copies just over 3 times faster! going to the share it was running at 10mb per second. Going to the mapped drive it is running at 31mb per second.
What a difference! :D
Lets hope that the mapped drive will eliminate the filename too long error. I won't know for a couple of hours while it copies again.
