Error Volume data Raid Level 1, Not Redundant
Firmware 6.5.2
After adding a second 2 TB WD RED HDD both disks are being recognized and have a green check
But there is an error saying Volume Dta: RAID level 1 , Not Redundant; 679.5GB (38%) of 1.8 TB used.
Diagnostics: Successfully completed diagnostics System
- Disk 1 has 1 Current Pending Sectors

- 2016-09-26 12:26:40: md/raid1:md1: Disk failure on sdb2, disabling device.

RAIDar -> admin -> system -> overview says that the system is degraded.
RAIDar -> admin -> system -> volumes shows two disk - RAID 1. Data 270.62GB; Momentual 408.86GB; available 1.18GB: type RAID 1.
Unfortunately I do not have a high skill experience to understand what is wrong.

A surge could have created some damage. Do you use a UPS?
The WD Red has a 3-year warranty, so you can RMA it. Western Digital will send you a recertified replacement, not a new disk. I'd probably do the RMA, but also buy a new replacement disk for the NAS. Then either use the RMA replacement somewhere else, or keep it on hand as an emergency spare.

The messages say disk 1 is failing (data can't be read) - I'd replace it.
You could get more details by downloading the log zip file and looking in disk_info.log. Another way to confirm disk health is to test the disks in a Windows PC with Western Digital's lifeguard.
How old is the disk?

I had quiet a number of spikes and surges because of tripping of the electric circuit. Maybe that has to do something with it?
