eSATA External Disk recognized

I plug in Esata external hardive (self powered) and it's not recognized.  Unit will not boot with esata drive attatched.  Does the Esata port work with the RN 102?  Running 6.6 Firware.  Thanks

The esata port is in the rear of the RN 102 underneath the 2 USB ports

Yes, there is an eSATA port there.  I don't believe it is eSATAp - meaning I don't believe the NAS will provide power.

    It's an external desktop drive so it has it's own power source

      There are a couple of USB drive recognition bugs fixed in the 6.6.1 beta.  It might be worth trying,
