Hi McRob1,
Have you tried connecting the said hard drive to the other USB 2.0 port of your ReadyNAS? What if you format it in another file system like FAT32?
Kind regards,

I already tried the front USB port.
I already tried formating the drive on my MAC using FAT32.
I already tried formating the drive on my PC using exFAT.
Any more ideas?

I had to do a manual restart of the NAS and now I can see the drive again.

Hi McRob1,
Does this mean that after rebooting the ReadyNAS it started to detect your external USB storage (in a stable manner) in any of its ports?
Kind regards,

After rebooting I am able to connect to the rear right usb port.
Not sure how stable it is because I am not able to create a backup job that works. The constant error is cannot connect.
I have tried 20 different ways so far.
I am able to see the drive using windows file explorer.
