Favorites in Mac Finder, Easy Hidden Folder Access, & itunes iphone photos
I've got my ReadyNAS pretty well setup.. 90% satisfied.
HOWEVER.. there's 1 MAIN problem that I searched for and got a responce here for
BEFORE I bought... but their instructions didn't work.
Also, 2 other issues that I don't care for.
ReadyNAS 214 in RAID5( all updated), MacBook Pro OSX (all updated), Netgear Nighthawk R8500 Router.
(1) I need a EASY ACCESS - Hidden Folder for my data documents $$$
---- Before I bought I was told I could hide it and then just type in the folder name in finder.
that doesn't bring it up.. ug.. then when I clicked on the ReadyNAS network name it tells me "the origianal item can't be found"
(2) How can I create a Favorites listing in Finder for the folders in my ReadyNAS. It wont let me make ANY external Favorites.
(3) How to get iTunes to sync photos on my ReadyNAS
..
Yes.. i've googled all these.. and see other people have the same problems, I cant seem to find a fix in google.
From 6.5.0 Beta onwards local backup jobs in the web admin UI should work with SMB from your Mac. See ReadyNASOS 6.5.0-T338 (Beta 2)
Note if you want to try the beta please read the release notes carefully. There are special instructions that need to be followed if using ReadyCLOUD.

1 of 3 fixed...
Adding NAS to Finder Favorites.
(1) Finder Pref: Show on Desktop: [ x ] Connected Servers
(2) with Finder open, shrink the finder so you can see the right side of desktop
(3) Drag the ReadyNAS connected server to the Finder Favorites
THEN.. you can open THAT NAS and pull over individual folders inside the NAS.

Hi joe_wht,
Have you used the SMB (CIFS) protocol to access the hidden share from your MAC computer? With regard to syncing your photos, try to use the ReadyCLOUD mobile app to sync your photos from your iPhone.
Hope this helps!
Kind regards,

Thanks .... the SMB (CIFS) protocol worked ~Perfect ~
.. I did setup the iphone software sync.. HOWEVER.. I was hoping to avoid data use.
There's gotta be a way to get iTunes to sync ReadyNAS photos.
.
I've also been thinking.. If the iphone Cloud software syncs with itunes,
how can I get ReadyNAS to sync those itunes folders on Mac.
The NAS backup does not like syncing my mac individual folders.
( and I don't want ReadyNAS-Time Machine to sync the whole HD)
