Files Missing - No Snapshots - Recoverable? #24892671

My RN516 was reaching capacity so I started to delete files from a share through Windows File Explorer. I am not sure what happened but my system froze and when I rebooted, all the files were gone from the share. I mean everything, not just the files I was deleting. Unfortunately when I started to reach capacity the RN516 automatically turned off snapshots and deleted previous snapshots in order to make more room. There was no notification, it just made the decision on its own. I can see it in the logs. Anyway, I started a support chat and that went as far as encouraging me to buy a support plan and then pay for them to recover the files on top of that. They put the unit in support mode so I can't access the control panel.

I have two shares that I created and use. On still has all its files and is under 2TB. The other share was close to 10TB. Even though the files are gone, the RN516 still shows as having 12.7TB on it.

So I have three problems.

  • How do I recover those files since they still appear to be on the drives"

  • How do I recover all that space if the files are not recoverable?

  • Can I end support mode in the event that NG support does not release it in a timely fashion

Remember, I do not have snapshots so is there an app to recover files?
