First Use Setup
Hey guys, first post so take it easy on me! ;-)
I'm getting my ReadyNAS Duo tonight and had a question before I start playing with it.
I am getting the diskless model but I have two 1TB drives that I am going to install. Both of these drives have data on them and I know that I will lose that data when the duo formats the drives.
My question is this... I plan to copy all data from one drive to the other then format it with the duo. Then copy everything from the second drive back to the newly formatted duo drive and format the second drive.
I plan on using these disks in JBOD with no redundancy. So when I put the second drive in to format and set for JBOD, am I going to lose all of the data on my first disk also?
Thanks,
Scott

- 1. From you description, you will create a Flex-Raid with first disk in volume C:
2. You will create another Volume D: with second disks, you will not lost your data in the first disks
3. You cannot create a volume with disk 1 and disk 2 as your description.
4. If you want to create a volume for JBOD without redundancy mode, you will inall and format those 2 disks as the same time. - scotty3x3AspirantOk so from the sound of this, using flex-raid, I will end up with two separate drives when I see them on the computer right?
