Hi malray,
If you can login to the admin page, go to Cloud > ReadyCloud. Turn off ReadyCloud then click Settings, this will show "Brian" as the main ReadyCloud user, click Leave then turn on ReadyCloud again then enter the "brian".
The right user ID is "brian", I believe, because this is what you saw "brian" as account name not "Brian".
Again, I'm not sure if the invited ReadyCloud users will get deleted after correcting the user ID in the admin page, in case it removes them you can re-add them.

as suspected the usernames are case sensitive
changed the username to lower case on NAS (therefore matching the readyclod username) this fixed the problem
