From 104 to Pro 6
Both the 104 and the Pro 6 are running OS6.2.
Can I just move the disks from the 104 to the Pro 6 directly?

- mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredThat should work. Would be best to be running the latest 6.2.3 Beta on both systems before doing the migration.
Update both to that firmware, verify the update is successful, power down, remove the disks from both NAS units (label order), move the disks from the 104 across and then power on. - Equinox1GuideAs usual, great input! :-)
I'll try in a couple of weeks. It's a pity that the trays are not interchangeable. - Equinox1GuideSo this one didn't go as smooth as it should...
Switching the disks worked, data wise.
All the apps were misconfigured and unusable.
Tried to revert to 6.2.2 on the Pro 6....and the web front went down.
[to be followed in the other thread] - mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredAh you had apps installed. The apps wouldn't work after a migration between architectures.
- Equinox1GuideNow I know :-D
Just out of curiosity...why? Aren't the packages universal?
And the main reason for changing the hardware was to use it with apps. From a pure mbps perspective, the 104 is enough for me. But the scrubbing times, the speed of the apps, and the overall perfomance of the CPU are all ridiculous. :D - itsjasperLuminaryNo, the apps are architecture-specific. The 104 CPU is ARM, the Pro is x86.
The 100 series is the lowest spec CPU out of the entire lineup - fine for general file serving but would be limited for app performance.
