FTP backup - remote nvx to local 516 - stops on first file @ 1.4GB

I have an odd problem.

I am moving user shares from an NVX machine over to a 516 via ftp backup.   One share refuses to back up and I don't know why.  I do not get an error and the 516 reports backup completed successfully.

The result of the 'completed' backup is a partially backed up file.  The original size is 1.88GB but only 1.4GB is copied over before the FTP copy ends and the 516 reports that the ftp completed successfully.

Is there a size limit for copying files over ftp?

Which firmware are you running on each of the two units?

So you don't have files this large in the shares that you are successfully backing up?

      516 firmware: 6.6.1

      NVX firmware: RAIDiator 4.2.30

On the shares that I think successfullly backed up (now I'm concerned that I'm getting sucess when it actually failed - side question: how can I tell if the folders/files/file sizes are the same?) , I saw that files much larger backed up successfully.   I have some 6GB files that appeared to copy over w/o issue.

I wonder what's so special about this file that causes the ftp copy to fail but yet report success.

Tomorrow, I'm just going to move this file out, do the ftp backup, and then copy the file manually - will see if that works.

Is FTP backup your only option?  If rsync or rsync over ssh are available, they likely are more robust.
