FTP browsing wrong in IE

Equipment: ReadyNAS Pro 4

Let's assume there is a folder in an FTP-enabled share called "MyFolder" on my FTP site ftp://myurl.com/ShareName

In Chrome or Firefox it shows as "MyFolder" and the link goes to ftp://myurl.com/ShareName/MyFolder/ as would be expected
In IE and Windows Explorer, it shows as "4096 Feb 8 17:56 MyFolder" and the link goes to ftp://myurl.com/ShareName/4096%20Feb%20%208%2017%3A56%20MyFolder/ and fails
I can manually type in ftp://myurl.com/ShareName/MyFolder/ in IE and it goes there just fine, which makes me think it's just a bug in the FTP code for IE browsers.

Needless to say I don't want to have to manually type it in each time, and I don't want to have to install an FTP client or additional web browser at every computer I need to shoot a file from back to my office.

I just updated to RAIDiator 4.2.19 and it made no difference

Am I the only one with this issue?
Normally I use FileZilla. However I am not seeing this issue with IE 8. ftp://domainname:port/ShareName/folder works correctly.

I do have an issue with masquerading (which FireFox deals with, but IE doesn't). My NAS is set up to masquerade using its local IP address, so internet FTP access depends on the client detecting that and substituting the WAN IP.
  • Seems you are using AD for the authenication.. right? as i encounted the same issue with my readynas 3200 ... what my solution is that, i've to use firefox instead of IE .. it works perfect !!

    NETGEAR engineer )))) anyone here?

PS with same readynas without AD auth. it works perfect !!!
  • It's an issue with lazy FTP clients that can't handle 'Domain Users' group name. They assume the space there is a field delimiter, so all other fields get thrown off.

  • Dear mdgm,
    thanks for your reply
    - I cannot change the Share folder group and share folder owners via frontview, but i can change via ssh by using chown admin:admin -R /c/folder..this works for me,
but as our ad get lots of users, when the user(s) belongs to domain user group...or other group name which get a space between, then broken link issue will occur .!!

I just wonder any other solution which can prevent this issue, thanks
