FTP users have access to ALL folders/shares - Duo v2
Hi all.
I have created a share for FTP use only, and given one user read/write access to it.
However, I have a problem in that this user can log in OK to the ReadyNas Duo v2 - but in their FTP program they can go back to parent folders all the way to the root, and access all folders and see the files within the folders.
For example from the root they can access:
backup
boot
c
dev
etc
frontview
and also my shares:
documents
media
iTunes
In frontview I have turned on FTP for the share I want the person to have access to - and added the user with Read/Write access. All other shares have FTP tuned off. Yet they can still see all folders on the drive (including non-share folders).
Any ideas what I am doing wrong with this?
I am accessing through my internal network to the ReadyNAS - but I guess this isn't the reason?
Thanks
Derek

- evan2NETGEAR ExpertWhat is their FTP program?
- bateswebAspirantHi Evan. Thanks for the reply.
Filezilla is the program.
But Ipswitch WS_FTP Pro also has the same problem. - evan2NETGEAR ExpertYes, I reproduce the issue,
Now you may set Authentication Mode as User in System/Services/FTP Settings, user will only see the share for FTP. - LeiaNETGEAR Employee RetiredIt's because you set FTP as Anonymous Mode, but login it with local users. So you need to change the Authentication Mode to "User" at first.
Acturally it's a bug, the fix will be involved in 5.3.6. Thanks. - bateswebAspirantThanks evan and Leia
I changed the setting to User mode and this now limits the FTP to just the folder I want them to access.
Many thanks
Derek
