Thanks for the help, there is some progress. The enclosure works fine on a PC, I do not have another enclosure to try. If someone has a known working enclosure for gpt and > 2 gig I will order one. When I connect the external drive to any port usb or esata I get the file system unrecognized, but then the drive and files are visible under the shares. Backup jobs only complete when I connect to the front usb. I guess I could live with that, but the unrecognized filesystem error and that only the front usb works for backup jobs puzzles me.
