The limitations for expansion (both the 8TB and 16TB limits) that affected e.g. 4.2.x do not affect OS6.
The expansion limitations for legacy OSes have been explained elsewhere.
If the RN104 supports 6TB disks yes you could add a 6TB HDD. Though with 3x4TB and 1x6TB you would not get any more capacity than with 4x4TB. You would need at least two 6TB drives to get vertical expansion.
