Actually what I would recommend you do is ensure you have a good backup, then remove the 2TB disk from the NAS, update to the latest firmware and then do a factory default (http://www.readynas.com/kb/faq/boot/how_do_i_use_the_boot_menu) with just your 2TB disks in the NAS.
Well, just took the other spare WD 2TB disks, put it in an external HD USB enclosure, formatted it with my Win7 laptop, hooked it up to the front USB port, configured a backup job for the C drive and let it rip.
Getting errors like this (also HD enclosure light went red, disk hot):
cp: preserving permissions for '/USB_HDD_1/./Company7/IMAGE (2).PDF': Operation not supported
cp: preserving permissions for '/USB_HDD_1/./Company7/Invoice Nos new.xls': Operation not supported
Therefore, the backup failed.
(Now checking disk (brand-new) for errors on the Win7 laptop - this disk running quite hot, maybe I should use WD Greens instead?)
