Thank you very much: I didn't guess this kind of solution, about changing the size of the HDD. Meanwhile, I updated the firmware to the latest 4.1.10 and performed a complete test after the update: the volume comes out with no problems at all. The Netgear technical helpdesk confirmed me that the previous firmware (4.1.9) reported false defective check while the HDD was placing the heads on the disks after a idle session. Whether it is true or not, I will discover in the future by periodically checking the log of my ReadyNAS Duo. By the present time, I suspend the purchasing of the HDD replacement.
