Help please - Readynas 6 Ultra stuck on booting with ‘Readnas’ screen

Hi there

I have a Readynas ultra 6 that was working fine - until it wasn't.

Latest raidiator software installed 4.2.31

Stuck on booting screen 'Readynas'

Reseting to boot menu not working - tried USB recovery - just stuck on 'Readynas' screen.

Any ideas please?

Thanks, Freerider.

  • Power down the NAS, remove the disks (label order) and see if you boot the NAS normally if it comes up with the error No Disks Detected.

If that is what happens the problem is probably a failing disk.

And if the symptoms don't change, it is likely a failed power supply.

The NAS will say "ReadyNAS" if there is nothing but 5VDC from the power supply, and I don't think that even has to be all that well regulated.  And the power supply is the usual item to go first.  So I agree that's probably the problem, though there are others (most of which are non-repairable).

The Ultra6 uses a standard SFX (aka micro ATX) format supply except that it has a longer main cable.  You can purchase a standard supply and an extender, or there is a seller on eBay that has them with a longer cable and all other necessary connectors already there.  If you have a standard ATX12V supply, you can hook that up externally to either test that it is the supply or recover data from the drives if you don't plan to fix it.  Although the original supply is 300W, the distribution between the various voltages is unusual.  I recommend at least a 350W supply, and a 400W is better,. as a replacement.

If you just want to move on, there are other options for data recovery, too.
