Help swapping "dead" drive? [Case #15693780]

OK, thanks for the quick response. I read that I may have done a bad thing by installing the new drive and booting it up again. Should I power down, remove the new drive, or anything else that might be necessary to help sort this out with minimal damage?
XRAID should allow me to lose one drive and still retain my data, yes? I purchased the NAS to prevent data loss! Ahh!
