Help with expansion
Over the last few days I replaced each of the four drives until complete. I went from 1 tb to 4tb drives.
The unit is a NV+ latest firmware. I rebooted so the full size would be used. For the last hour the display just shows booting and the fan is running on high speed.
Is this locked up, or should I wait before I pull the plug?

- Please contact tech support.
- chirpaLuminaryYou put in (4) 4TB HDDs? Is this an NV+ v1 (selling since 2006, EOL'd last year) or v2 (only made this year). The v1 does not support more than 2TB HDDs.
- jerryrayAspirantSorry type, I installed 4 2 tb drives.
Called tech support, they said wait at least 1 whole day for expansion.
It' been 9 hours so far. The LCD display does not say expanding, just says booting.
Guess by this time tomorrow I will assume it's locked up.
It was working after the drives were installed and sync up. - mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredWhat do you see in RAIDar?
- jerryrayAspirantRAIDar doe not see the drive.
- jerryrayAspirant24 hours later, same message "booting"
- PapaBear1ApprenticeDid you by chance update your backup before you went through the update?
- jerryrayAspirantNot sure what you mean "update my backup"
I updated the firmware a week or two ago. Been fine since.
Installed the drive one at a time until sync was complete, all was well until I clicked shutdown and restart.
Once before when I went fro 500g to 1 gig drives, I saw the same process except after re-starting is showed expading and I think a % done, not sure on that. But now I just see booting and it's been 30 hours. - jerryrayAspirantTried holding the on/power button. No action. Hate to pull the plug, When I return hone tonight some 40 hours later I will have to, and hope...
- vandermerweMasterPapaBear is asking whether your backup is current. In other words does your backup contain all of the data that was on he NAS just before you decided to expand the volume?
