Home Share Visable (While Disabled) and Strange 'data' Share
Good Evening Everyone,
I am experiencing two(2) issues at the moment. I have a ReadyNAS 314 with firmware 6.2.2. My computers are all Windows 8.1. Within my services I only have enabled the following: SMB, UPnP, HTTP, HTTPS. My volume is labelled the default of 'data'. Today I was configuring Windows 8.1 with 'Keeping a history of your files' onto the NAS. This worked ok but now I have these new issues.
First Issue:
Within my windows network I see all my shares ok on the NAS with the exception of two strange shares that I have not created. It is called 'data' & 'home'. I will get to the 'home' issue next. On a Windows Explorer window I locate the ReadyNAS entry and drill down and list all my shares I have created. Within that list there is a share called 'data' which actually lists all the shares on the ReadyNAS (even hidden ones). In addition I notice some other folders called: ._share, .apps, .purge, .timemachine, .vault. How do I remove this share from being visible or being incorrectly shown.
Second Issue:
I have Home folders disabled. Within the Home Folders settings page I have all the protocols Off (SMB, NFS, AFP, FTP, DLNA) and the status is listed as 'Disabled'. For some reason it is a bit like the First Issue. Within my Windows Explorer window I have my listing of shares, however, even tho I have Home Folder settings disabled I can still see the 'home' share. And within that share I still see another directory 'admin' with nothing in it. I try to delete the 'admin' folder however it just returns.
Would anyone be able to point me in the right direction in getting my NAS functional again. The NAS was quite fine before I started with this Windows 8.1 configuration as mentioned above. I have since stopped file sync and deleted the folders it has created in order to try to get to the bottom of my issues as listed above.

These do exist, and are visible to the NAS admin account. If you don't want to see them, then use a different username. Don't attempt to remove this stuff.Homith wrote: First Issue:

If you use the right credentials, you won't see home. If you create a new user is a new share created?Homith wrote: Second Issue:

Thanks for the feedback. What I ended up doing is launching Windows Credentials Manager (control keymgr.dll) and removed the entry for the ReadyNAS. After that I was able to again access the shares without the data and home visible. With the home share however. I cannot seem to delete the admin user from it. I tried, as you mentioned, and created another user. I created a Test user however that users home folder did not appear within the Home Folders.
Cheers - Since the admin folder is empty, I suggest that you just not worry about it.

Thanks for the feedback on this. While I could just not worry about it. I just would like to know why this is happening and if it normal operation? Does this happen to anyone else's ReadyNAS device? I would be curious. I do not recall this happening before.
