If you set it to auto it will use gigabit if it's available.
  • ok so if that's the case why can I only obtain upto 10MB/s upload speeds to the NAS. My laptop has a gigbait nic as well. i even tried connecting direct to NAS bypassing any switch /router. same result.

So this is on your Ultra 4 Plus?

What is the volume status under Volumes > Volume Settings in Frontview?

Do note that your WD15EARS disks are not on the compatibility list and may have compatibility issues

What version of RAIDiator are you running?

It should show in Frontview under Network > Interfaces that you are connected at gigabit speeds if you are.
  • Try this:

    MainStore:/# ethtool eth0
    Settings for eth1:
    Supported ports: [ TP ]
    Supported link modes: 10baseT/Half 10baseT/Full
    100baseT/Half 100baseT/Full
    1000baseT/Half 1000baseT/Full
    Supports auto-negotiation: Yes
    Advertised link modes: 10baseT/Half 10baseT/Full
    100baseT/Half 100baseT/Full
    1000baseT/Half 1000baseT/Full
    Advertised auto-negotiation: Yes
    Speed: 1000Mb/s
    Duplex: Full
    Port: Twisted Pair
    PHYAD: 0
    Transceiver: internal
    Auto-negotiation: on
    Supports Wake-on: g
    Wake-on: d
    Link detected: yes

    Note "Speed" above.
  • Sorry. you need to SSH into your nas and run the command. If your on windows use Putty.
Once you run the command, make a note of the speed then type "exit".
I presume you dont know your way around the Linux bash environment but you will be logged in as "root" (aka God) and you can do untold damage to your Nas if you type something wrong......so once yu run the command get the hell out of there...
Applogies if you already understand this.
  • Check UTP cable! Some brands provide cheap cable with 4 wires inside (look at RJ45 connector). For gigabit you need 8 wires inside CAT 5e or CAT 6 for longer distance. Check your PC network card and router- it have to be gigabit as well
