How do I increase the capacity of the Time Machine backup on my RN424 storage system?
How do I increase the capacity of the Time Machine backup on my RN424 storage system running ReadyNAS OS 6?
Are these articles correct for the RN424 in 2023?

Clicking on Backup > Time Machine shows a popup window with what looks like an option to change the capacity, but it is not clear what happens if you change the number in that box.
Ideally, it is not needed to delete the backups like it says here:
"Note: The first time you run Time Machine on your Mac, a sparse bundle is created on your ReadyNAS to store the backup data. The maximum size of the sparse bundle is the size that you specify in the Capacity field. Make sure that you allocate more space than is needed so that the sparse bundle can accommodate additional data later. After you run Time Machine for the first time, simply changing the number in the Capacity field does not increase the size of the sparse bundle.
If you want to increase the size of the sparse bundle, you must delete the sparse bundle and create a new Time Machine backup."

As of my last update in September 2021, the RN424 storage system is a Netgear ReadyNAS model, which is integrated with Time Machine for Mac backups. To increase the capacity of the Time Machine backup on your RN424 storage system, you will need to follow these general steps:
Add more storage to your RN424: If you want to increase the backup capacity, you'll need to add more storage drives to your ReadyNAS system. Depending on your RN424 model, it may support multiple drive bays, allowing you to expand the storage capacity by adding additional hard drives.
Set up the new drives: Install the new drives into the available drive bays of your RN424, and then follow the manufacturer's instructions to set up the drives. This typically involves configuring the new drives through the ReadyNAS web interface.
Expand the storage pool: Once the new drives are installed and recognized by the ReadyNAS system, you'll need to expand the storage pool to include the newly added drives. This will increase the overall storage capacity of your ReadyNAS.

Thanks, but I have plenty of available disk space already. The question is how to allow the Time Machine backups to use more of that disk space.
