How Do I Install 3rd Party Plugins for SqueezeCentre Server
How Do I Install 3rd Party Plugins for the SqueezeCentre Server on a ReadyNas Pro
I'm running the latest version of the SqueezeCentre Server (which I believe is 7.6.2) on my ReadyNas Pro.
I want to install some 3rd Party Plug-Ins but need some assistance. If I run the SqueezeCentre Server on my iMac it's relatively straight forward to install the Plug-Ins. Unfortunately it doesn't appear to be so straight forward on the Nas.
On the Logitech Website its states that the Plug=Ins should be installed in the Plug-Ins director which for Linux Servers is typically.
/usr/share/squeezecenter/Plugins, /usr/local/squeezecenter/Plugins or /opt/squeezecenter/Plugins.
I don't really want to enable and access the Root so is there an easier solution for this. For example can I create those directories to hold the Plug-In files and how do I ensure that the SqueezeCentre Server runs the Plug-Ins in that directory on starting up.

- ScaevolaAspirantouch. They made it super hard. Check your the readynas manual
install it via frontview.
frontview -> update -> local -> [navigate to the bin] -> let the readynas verify the bin's authenticity -> then click load/patch/go/update etc.... - Unfortunately the Plug-In isn't a Binary file so it cannot be installed that way. Have you installed these Plug-Ins yourself? I just wondered if there was anyone out there who had installed SqueezeCentre Plug-Ins.
Anyway thanks for responding - markwollGuideIf you are obtaining the plug in from a 'recognized' source , why not add the repository to the 3rd party section of the squeeze center settings and select it from there for install?
The link to the additional repositories also shows how to set up a location that the server will recognize it and enable download and install.
I have set up a couple in the past and it was pretty easy.
This is from the bottom of the plugin tab of the settings screen:
Update plugins automatically
Show all 3rd party plugins
Additional Repositories
You may add additional third-party extension repositories by entering the URL for the repository below. A list of repository URLs can be found here.
Warning: As the server will automatically download software from the repositories you define, please verify that you trust the owner of the repository.
mark - Thanks Mark, that worked perfectly.
I've only recently had the Squeeze Boxes etc and finding my way around them. I've now managed to install the 3rd party plug-in that I wanted. Whether it's any good is another thing of course.
Cheers
Phil
