How do I rsync a ReadyNAS share to the same share on another ReadyNAS?
I am using the "Backup" section of the "Admin Page" web app.
Both NAS units are identical ReadyNAS 316s.
The backup is running on my local LAN. I was told by Support that I should just be able to use Rsync in this case (i.e., no Replicate set-up required).
I have been trying to set this up as a push from NAS 1 to NAS 2.
Neither of the following work:
1. Ideally, I would like to have one job that copies all shares on NAS 1 to the same shares on NAS 2. I have tried various options but they either fail the "Test Connection" during set up, or they fail when the job runs.
2. Since #1 did not work, I tried to set up separate jobs that copy each share on NAS 1 to the equivalent share on NAS 2. I can only get this to work if I select Type "share" and Name "share:XYZ" on NAS 1 and Path "XYZ" on NAS 2. This works, but copies the file to a new subdirectory "XYZ" under share "XYZ" on the destination NAS; i.e., "XYZ/file" is copied to "XYZ/XYZ/file". Obviously, I would like the copied file to end up as "XYZ/file". I have tried different options but apparently you are forced to specify a share name for the destination.
Thanks.

I use "push" myself, but the only settings difference is to reverse source and destination. I prefer backup jobs for each share (partly because I am backing up to multiple smaller NAS).
Push Settings for a share (let's call it "Music") are:
Source type: Share
Name: Share:Music
Destination Type: Remote
Name: remote: Rsync Server
Host: 10.0.0.10 (use whatever the ip address of the destination is)
Path: Music (Case sensitive, and no slashes)
After you do the setup wizard, go into settings and choose advanced. Check the box next to "remove deleted files on target".
Of course rsync needs to be enabled for Music in the destination share.

This is the setting on my ReadyNAS.
I have created a shared folder called BACKUP_NAS3 and set the network protocol as shown.
This is infact all I have done on the destination NAS.
Is this all I need to do on the destination ?

That guide describes how to do what you need on a share by share basis. What you are probably most interested in are steps 14 and 15 to prevent the XYZ/XYZ/file issue.
