Many ISP block the ports used by Windows file sharing, including comcast. http://customer.comcast.com/help-and-su ... ked-ports/
I suggest using https and ftps - both of which are secure. Filezilla is a good client for ftps.
I also would not put the NAS in the DMZ. Instead of I only forward the ports that are needed.
