How long does it take to sync ready nas duo v2 1.5tb?
I have a Ready Nas Duo V2. It contained a 2 working 1.5TB drive in bay 1 and a 2TB drive in bay 2. I also have an extra external 1.5Tb drive. I decided that I needed the extra 2TB space since it was wasted in the RAID with the 1.5TB in bay 1. So I swapped out the 2TB in bay 2 with my external 1.5TB drive. I shut down the NAS took out the 2TB drive in bay 2 and placed in the 1.5TB in its place.
I ran Raidar and it detected but still showed my bay 2 as the 2TB drive. On Raidar it showed file system check 100%, the first column light was blue and the rest were green. On the machine the blue power LED stayed on, the activity LED is off but blinks once in a while, bay 1 LED was green and on, bay 2 LED was green and constantly blinking. I wasn't sure if it was syncing or dead according to the manual so I let it run for 2 days. Nothing changed and I couldn't find my NAS on Raidar after i rescanned.
So try number 2 I shut down the Ready Nas Duo v2. Popped out the HD in bay 2 and kept only bay 1 in. Ran the Raidar it detected it. This time on Raidar the first column light was yellow and the rest were yellow, it states that my NAS is not redundent anymore but it still shows my 2TB drive info on the bay 2. On the machine bay 1 LED was green and on bay 2 LED was off. I do a hot swap this time and kep the NAS on and placed in the 1.5TB drive back in bay 2. I hit rescan on Raidar and I lose connection and can't detect it anymore. On the machine the power button is blue and on, the activity LED is off but blinks once in a while, bay 1 LED is green and on, bay 2 LED is green and constantly blinking. It has been 2 days and a little over since and the lights remain the same and I cant detect it on RAidar.
Does the blinking light mean the drive has failed? Or does it mean it is still syncing? Is it not possible to downgrade the size from the 2TB drive to the 1.5TB drive? What should I do? Let it run longer?
You could try booting with just disk 1 in the NAS and see if you can access your data. Then backup the data. Once you have verified you have a good backup power down, put the two 1.5TB disks in and do a factory reset.
The boot menu does differ depending on which ReadyNAS you have: http://www.rnasguide.com/2012/01/09/how-to-tell-whether-i-have-a-duo-v1-or-duo-v2-or-nv-v1-or-nv-v2/

You can't replace disks with lower capacity ones.

So what can I do here? Can I just plug in the drive in bay 1 straight to my computer and back up files with a program like recuva and remake the raid with the two 1.5TB drives? Or is it still possible to access my data to back up with only the bay 1 drive still in it with Raidar?
Also if Its possible to do what I mentioned above, how do I go about to remaking the raid with the two 1.5TB drives? Just hit reset in the back?
