Sounds like you're not adding the correct credentials in the Manage Network Passwords panel.
Please try with something simple, like testuser / password, create it, give permissions, test it.
Your NAS isn't joined to Active Directory, is it?
Do you use the same workgroup name on the NAS and on the PC?

no active directory
both on same workgroup
NETWORK ACCESS
unticked everyone
ticked is admin, new user, login
FILE ACCESS
done nothing
owner guest
group guest
ticked everyone, owner, group, admin
If I change anything in file access it locks me out instead of asking for password
adding a windows credential does nothing because it is not currently asking me for a password
How do i make the newly created share require a password?
