You need to get into flexraid mode - see page 48 here: http://www.downloads.netgear.com/files/GDC/RNDU2000/ReadyNAS_Business_SW_05Nov13.pdf
To do this you'll need to install the older version of RAIDar (4.3.8). Version 6.3 won't do it. https://kb.netgear.com/20684/ReadyNAS-Downloads.
You can start with just the 2x2TB drives installed if you want - and then hot-insert the 1 TB drives and create the second volume after the initial setup.
- Lando365Apr 24, 2018AspirantHi thanks for the quick response. I am using Firmware version RAIDiator 4.2.31
Is this the same as per your instructions?
Thanks- StephenBApr 24, 2018Guru - Experienced User
Yes. They didn't update the manual after 4.2.17 (the releases after that were mostly bug fixes and security patches).
The manuals (and some other stuff) are here: https://www.netgear.com/support/product/rnrx4000_(readynas_2100).aspx
- Lando365Apr 24, 2018AspirantMany thanks for all your help. I have one mirrored pair syncing as we speak. Added other drives but assume it needs to finish sync before it will allow me to create another array?
Thanks
