How-to for front USB port and backup button
I cannot find any documentation on how to program the front USB port and backup button found on the NV+. Can someone point me to the instructions? I want to backup the entire NAS to one or two externa...

The instructions are in the user manual starting on page 1-42 "Configuring Backup Jobs". Once your backup job is configured, you select that job number for the front button (pg 1-49).
I set-up mine to bu the entire volume C to my USB drive as a Remote Rsync Server, see here:

The tricky part for me was formatting my USB drive to EXT2 (instead of EXT3, for maximum speed). But now that it's set-up and working I need only:
1. Power the USB drive (I leave it plugged-in to the front USB port but the power brick is pulled)
2. Wait some seconds for the drive to be recognized and when the LED stops flashing, press it once
3. When the backup is over, I press-and-hold the Backup button for >5 secs until the drive LEDs flash once
4. NV+ says "USB disconnect" or some such and I pull the power plug on it
No need to access Frontview. BTW if you are religious about properly unmounting the USB drive (as you should be) you should also find/implement Fast USB Writes in Frontview.
