So are you telling me, if I don't have the user account credentials same as windows, I can't login to nas? wouldn't this work:
username: ipaddressofnas\username
password: password
and why do you think that it works for 1 specific user name, i.e. xav (I am not logged in as xav on my windows machine), the only thing special about xav is that in the inital nas setup I gave him the only r/w over the share "other" then I removed it to have the above mentioned setup.
It should work the way you describe, although you could try "yournasname\username" instead of ip address.
Using windows-users with the same name and password only simplifies the login and access to the shares, nothing else really.
Do you type the usernames excactly as you created them as? Unix-based systems (the base OS on your NAS) is case sensitive with usernames as well, i.e. my user is named Alex, and if I type alex (with a small a) I get incorrect logins.
What you could try, if you type the names correctly, is to recreate the users and see if the problem still persists
EDIT: Clarification
