Netgear has exited the storage business, so you can't replace it with new ReadyNAS

I've never needed 60 bays, so I haven't explored the options.  Hopefully someone else will chime in.

  • This is a bit of uncharted territory because there aren't many RR4360 out there... If I had one I'd probably look in to installing TrueNAS on it, there are guides for other ReadyNAS models and I'd imagine the steps would be somewhat similar. However the base RAM is only 16GB so you'd want to expand it as well.

  • But I also realize you mentioned wanting to replace it with a low cost replacement. I mean.. That totally depends on your usage of it... How much data do you have? If you have it fully populated I'd imagine you have quite a lot of data so you may want to look for some enterprise solution.

Something like Dell Powerstore or PowerScale (Isilon) or NetApp.. Or Pure. Or an IXSystems prebuilt truenas though I feel like their current generation hardware could use a refresh.

    Don't forget you'll need a backup too :-)
