Image thumbnails with Linux Mint 12 ?

Hi all -

I have just copied a lot of images (mostly .jpgs) from a local volume on my Linux MInt 12 laptop (gnome desktop), to a share on the ReadyNAS.

In doing so, I have lost the 'thumbnail' view. In other words - when browsing the local directory full of .jpgs, on the laptop, the standard 'Icons' view shows me the image thumbnails - whereas when viewing the copied directory on the ReadyNAS, it does not.

It doesn't matter whether I connect to the ReadyNAS via SMB, CIFS, or Windows Share - still no thumbnails, just the placeholder '.jpg' icons in the view.

I suspect this is probably a Linux Mint issue rather than a ReadyNAS one, but I thought I'd post it here just to see if anyone else has come across it and maybe can share any wisdom ?

Also - a secondary question. As part of investigating this, at one point I connected to the NAS share just via a browser (Firefox) from the laptop, as opposed to mapping to the share as normal. Still no thumbnails (as expected actually in a browser, not sure what I was trying to prove there...) but I did notice that opening the images was WAY faster in the browser than via the normal file explorer (Nautilus). Has anyone else come across this, and is there any tweak in the NIC settings (etc) that might fix it ?

Any comments would be really appreciated -

Thanks and Regards -

Chris.
