Information sought about versions
Can anyone point me to where I might learn what changes were made between firmware versions 4.1.8 and 4.1.10, 4.1.12.
I have had an unsympathetic response to a problem I raised with Netgear support about the dropping of the Share Space used and or Quota Allocated information when using the security mode Share. It now appears that Netgear are unable to upgrade the NV+ and recommend users install Windows XP to get the details of space used or allocated.
If a user has been accustomed to viewing the share space used via frontview it is no longer possible after 4.1.8.
The recommendation for Windows 7 users is that they change to security mode User, which does not provide the space info.
Further if a Windows 7 user selects security mode Share they will be unable access any share they create after they change to 4.1.10 or higher. Support level 3 claims this is because of the excessive security requirements of Windows 7.
I am looking for the update logs for 4.1.9 and above to find out what I might not be able to benefits from if I revert to 4.1.8.

- If you google "Raidiator 4.1.x", you should see the netgear release notice for that firmware. Click on that, and you will see the release notes.
Personally I am fine with user security mode, and would rather have the security updates put into 4.1.12. - Thanks for that info.
I find it difficult to accept that the upgrades of Raidiator beyond 4.1.8 do not allow the security mode share. If it is impossible to update the firmware as has been said to me by level 3 support.

The problems associated with using Windows 7 seem to be solved by going BACK to Windows XP.
I find the loss of the 'Share Space used' unacceptable and the only thing I can see I might lose in going back to 4.1.8 is a possible loss of some updates relating to SAMBA for Windows 8. I do not use Windows 8 or 8.1. Probably never will.
I suppose I am stuck in the past. - If you have share security already enabled, then upgrading past 4.1.8 should not disable it. A factory reset will remove it, but an upgrade or firmware reinstall will not.
AFAIK, the share security in 4.1.13 functions the same way as the older firmware. The issue is that Windows has changed over time, and that mode has compatibility issues with the newer versions of Windows.
