Intel processor recall - Swapping all drives between units?

We have 2 RN3138 units affected by the Intel processor recall, and are starting the RMA process with Netgear.

I'm worried that we won't be able to duplicate production data within the 10 day return period, and want as short of a maintenance window as possible in order to swap the units.

Would I be able to swap ALL drives between a new and old unit assuming both have the same firmware versions?

You can swap the drives over.

It's best to install a single scratch disk first into the replacement system first, so you can see what firmware is loaded into the replacement's flash.

    Then

    • match the firmware (upgrading whatever system is running the oldest firmware to match the other).
    • power down both systems
    • remove the scratch drive
    • migrate the original disks to the replacement (maintaining slot order)

That should take a couple hours at most.
